## How it works

1. Open Claude Desktop with the Geopogo MCP plugin connected to Revit
2. Describe your building — e.g. "Design a 2-bedroom house with an open-plan kitchen"
3. Claude calls Geopogo AI tools to place each element directly in your Revit model
4. Refine with follow-up prompts — move walls, add rooms, adjust dimensions
5. Your fully editable Revit model is ready for documentation, analysis, or export

## Requirements

- Autodesk Revit 2026 (installed)
- Claude Desktop — [claude.ai/download](https://claude.ai/download)
- Node.js 18 or later — [nodejs.org](https://nodejs.org)
- .NET SDK or Visual Studio 2022 (to build the plugin)

## Installation — Quick Start

1. Right-click Install-GeopogoAI.bat inside the downloaded ZIP
2. Choose "Run as administrator"
3. Follow the on-screen prompts

The installer will automatically:

- Build the Revit plugin (GeopogoAI.dll)
- Copy it to %LOCALAPPDATA%\\GeopogoAI\\
- Install the .addin manifest for Revit 2026
- Set up the MCP server (npm install)
- Patch your Claude Desktop config automatically

## After Installation

1. Start (or restart) Autodesk Revit 2026 — you should see a "Geopogo AI" tab in the ribbon
2. Fully quit Claude Desktop (right-click tray icon → Quit), then reopen it. To verify the MCP server is connected, go to Settings → Developer — you should see geopogo-ai listed with a running status badge.

The installer patches this file automatically. If you need to add it manually, this is the entry to include.

3. Open a Revit project and start chatting!

## Connecting Cursor to Geopogo AI

Use Cursor instead of Claude Desktop — same MCP server, different config file.

1. Open the Cursor MCP config file

Press `Win + R`, paste the path below, hit Enter. If the file doesn't exist yet, create it at that path.

2. Paste this into mcp.json

Replace the path with your actual install folder. If you already have other servers, add only the "geopogo-ai" block inside the existing "mcpServers" — don't replace the whole file.

3. Restart Cursor

4. Use Agent mode — required

MCP tools only work in Agent mode. Press `Ctrl + L` to open the chat panel, click the dropdown at the top, switch from Ask to Agent, and make sure Revit is open with a project loaded.

### Verify it's working

Call `get_geopogo_version`

You should see version 2.0.0 and 39 tools in the response. If you see an error, double-check that the path in mcp.json points exactly to your dist\\index.js file.

The installer (Install-GeopogoAI.bat) sets this up automatically — these manual steps are only needed if the installer didn't run or you're setting up a second machine.

Windows may show a SmartScreen warning for the installer. It is safe to run — click **"More info"** then **"Run anyway"** to proceed. The installer is not yet digitally signed.
